By the end of the 21st century, the human population is expected to have reached at least 10
billion. It's incredible to think this is possible, especially since there were only 190 million of us
2,000 years ago. Currently we stand at just over 7 billion people. This population boom,
particularly over the last 300 years, shows little signs of slowing.
The causes and effects of uncontrolled population growth should concern us all. Are there too
many people? Are there enough resources for everyone to live a reasonable life? Does our current
political and economic system intentionally create this outcome?
How are we going to manage this incredibly large issue without ignoring and pretending that it
doesn’t exist because it doesn’t affect me?
At the very least, we should aim to take care of and raise the basic standard of living for the people
we already have!
They/we are humans after all!
